🎾 Youth Tennis Is Coming to Weequahic Park – Spring Season Begins in March!
This March, the Weequahic Park Sports Authority Conservancy is proud to launch our Youth Tennis Program, bringing opportunity, skill-building, and healthy recreation to young people right here in Weequahic Park.
Designed for children and teens of all experience levels, our tennis program introduces the fundamentals of the sport while building confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for physical activity.
🌱 More Than a Game
Tennis is more than just hitting a ball over a net. Through this program, youth will learn:
Hand-eye coordination and agility
Focus, patience, and sportsmanship
Healthy competition and respect for others
The value of practice, effort, and perseverance
Our goal is to create a safe, positive, and supportive environment where young people can grow—both on and off the court.
👟 Who Can Participate?
The program is open to youth ages 7–18, including:
Beginners learning tennis for the first time
Youth looking to improve their skills
Students interested in recreational or competitive play
No prior tennis experience is required. All youth are welcome.
🤝 Community-Centered Coaching
Our tennis sessions are led by community-focused instructors and volunteers who understand the importance of mentorship, safety, and encouragement. We are also welcoming volunteer tennis coaches and assistants who want to give back and support youth development in Newark.
If you love tennis and believe in youth empowerment, we’d love to hear from you.
